1) Participate in Conversation with Candidates
for state office
You
can make the electoral dialogue more meaningful by asking
candidates for specifics on how they will address the $5.8 billion
budget shortfall projected for FY 2012 - 13. Use our budget
facts and sample questions to ask candidates about their plans
to balance the budget and sign up for our emails to recieve additional
resources to engage in the electoral process.
2) Share Your Story
You know
best how budget cuts and raising revenue will impact your organization
and your constituents. Use Invest
in Minnesota Talking Points and Components
of Telling Your Story Effectively to share your story with
colleagues, neighbors, organizational partners, legislators, and
local press. Tell a personal story and make the case for raising
revenue as part of a balanced approach to the state budget deficit.
Writing a
letter to the the editor of your local paper is a powerful way
to make your story heard. Use our Sample
Letters to the Editor and List
of Local Paper Contacts or contact us for additional support.
We also want
to document how budget cuts and unallotments have impacted our
lives at www.aboutusall.org.

3) Demonstrate Your Support
If your organization
has not already signed-on to endorse our revenue-raising principles,
please complete the Revenue
Raising Principle Sign On form so that we can demonstrate
power in numbers with a diverse list of supporting organizations.
